How to choose a personal trainer

Five checks that fit in one conversation — before you pay the first month.

Check the credential at the source

In Brazil, personal trainers work under a CREF license. Ask for the number and check it in the public CONFEF/CREF registry — it takes a minute. Those who have it show it readily; those who stall have already answered your question.

Experience in YOUR modality

Strength training, running, martial arts and yoga are different crafts. Ask how long they've taught what YOU want to train, and for what kind of student. An excellent strength coach can be average at mobility — which is fine, as long as you know beforehand.

Take a trial class

One class tells you what ten conversations can't: punctuality, attention to your history and limits, form correction, and whether they ask before prescribing. A confident professional offers a trial without drama.

Red flags

Guaranteed results in X weeks, a large package paid upfront with no receipt, the same plan for everyone, and a rush to close before knowing you. None of these signs improve after the contract starts.

Price is a direct conversation

Movase takes no commission and handles no payments: the price is agreed between you and the professional, and 100% stays with whoever teaches. Distrust intermediaries who hide prices — whoever lives off commission has an incentive to inflate them.
